Renters Insurance

You are responsible for any damage to the rented boat during your rental period. We offer a damage waiver for $35.00 per day that covers damage to Dolphin Cove Marina's rental boat only. This does not cover any other boat damage, property damage, or personal injury. The damage waiver covers damage in EXCESS of $1,000.00 per incident. Renter is still responsible for the first $1,000.00 of damage to the rental boat. Failure to comply with waterway rules and/or negligence is not covered by this waiver. This is not an insurance policy.

Renters insurance can be purchased upon check-in. You will be offered Renter's Insurance through Buoy upon Check-in per Florida's law SB606. Insurance is highly recommended.

Towing Coverage
provided by Dolphin Cove Marina

Normal towing rates can range from $200-$500 plus gas, depending on location & hours.

Towing examples may include being stuck on a sand bar or stuck on a beach due to shifting tides.

Towing Coverage waives the towing fee as long as the renter is not out past dusk and is not negligent. There is no towing fee if it is a mechanical issue.

Trip Protection

Trip protection allows cancellation by 8:30 a.m. on your departure day for any reason. You will be refunded all monies minus the trip protection fee. If trip protection is not purchased our normal refund policy applies which is:

Less than 48 hour notice (including weather related) will receive a 25% refund OR you can reschedule at no extra charge. No-shows are non-refundable. Cancellations must be done via text or email. What time should I arrive for my rental?

It takes about 20 minutes to complete safety orientation, chart class, & boat review. If you paid for the full day, you may arrive after 8:30 a.m.; we will hold your boat. Must still return at 4:30 p.m.

Do I have to arrive at my rental start time?

You can arrive when it is convenient for you as long as you have paid for your boat online. You must still return at your scheduled time. Many people rent for the full day but arrive after 8:30, we will hold the boat for you if you have paid for it already.

What is your cancellation policy?

Full refunds are given with a 48 hour (2 day) notice. Less than 48 hour notice (including weather related) will receive a 25% refund OR you can reschedule at no extra charge. No-shows are non-refundable. Trip Insurance is available for purchase allowing day of cancellation.

What should we bring?

We have coolers and ice available for rent, and you are also weclome to bring your own. We recommned bringing sunscreen, snacks, towels, garbage bags, noodles and drinks. Well behaved dogs are allowed, please keep off seats

What shouldn't we bring?

Do not bring grills, charcoal, skis, tubes, or dogs that will damage the boat. No illegal substances. No sunscreen/tanning lotion on seats please.

Do I need a fishing license?

All non-residents 16 and over and any resident from 16 to 64 are required to have a Florida license. You can pruchase these at the ace hardware on Marco or you can get your license online at my fwc.org. Click button below.

Do you rent beach chairs, umbrellas, etc?

No, but check out Osprey Beach Company.

Can I use my boater safety card from a different state?

If your boater safety card has the logo NASBLA on it or says it is approved by the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF STATE BOATING LAW ADMINISTRATORS, it may be used in Florida.

Do your boats have GPS?

Yes, all of our boats have GPS and handmade charts. Please see the rental boats tab above to see the details and components in each boat.

How do we pay for fuel?

The boat leaves full. Upon return, we will top off the gas. You are responsible for whatever is used and will be charged on your card at return.

Do your boats have depth finders?

No, our boats purposefully do not have depth finders. Our experience has found that depth finders give renters a false sense of safety. Our depths go from deep to shallow in a hot second. Staying on our lined route & between the channel markers is your best depth finder to keep you off the sand bars and to avoid a tow. Tip - Use Navigation charts first, boat GPS second, and your phone GPS if you get turned around.

Do you furnish navigational charts?

Yes, we have detailed custom made charts with top destinations on them. Our experienced Dock Attendants will review our charts, safety equipment, boat operation & orientation checklists with you.

Can I stop at a beach?

Yes, you are allowed to go to the beaches designated with beach balls on the maps/charts. Do not go to any other beaches.

Can I tube or ski behind your boat?

No, boating in the Gulf is not like boating in a lake. It is too dangerous to ski or tube. No tubing or skiing is allowed at any rental company.

Do you offer renter's insurance?

Yes, you can purchase Renter's Insurance at check-in. Buoy offers renters insurance on our fleet.

Where are you located?

Upon arrival, we have free parking available for Boat Rental Customers, please follow the parking signs or ask a crew member. Directions? -Click here

Once you have parked we have complimentary carts to help you unload, located near the check-in hut at the dock (follow signs).

All persons in your party must be present before checking in unless you are picking up your people at your home. Once everyone in your party is ready please unload and proceed to check in.

The renter/credit card holder and the driver must be present at the check-in desk. We NEED a driver's license from the renter and driver. If the driver is born from 1/1/1988 to today's date, we will also need a boater safety card.

The renter and driver will complete our rental agreement forms. You will have the OPTION to purchase renter's insurance at check-in. Buoy is the insurance company, insurance is highly recommended (see the insurance tab for more information).

Once chart class and rental forms are completed, our marina team will escort you to the end of the dock, bring your boat around, and provide a safety briefing and boat operation course. We will ensure you are ready to have a safe and wonderful day on the water.
